Stoned Monkey VHF ARC

The Stoned Monkeys are a group of VHF contesters based in northeastern Illinois on the borders of Lake and McHenry counties.

The name of the club comes from an incident during the June 2000 VHF QSO Party where one of the founding members unwittingly infected several computers used for logging with the Stoned Monkey computer virus. That's right folks - nine years later and he still hasn't lived that one down!

Coming off last year's 7th place nationwide finish in the September VHF contest the N9UHF crew is ready for the summer VHF contest season. Our members also fared well in the January VHF Sweeps with our man Tom K9TMS coming in 5th place nationwide in the QRP Portable category.

The Stoned Monkey VHF ARC will be on the air from our usual location in northeast Illinois near McHenry for the June contest. We will again operate under the call sign N9UHF and our Grid Square will be EN52uj.

We will have stations on 6 through 1296 with 10G and Laser. We are also going to attempt WSJT for the first time with that on 6 meters only at this point. The station is still being worked on that will handle it for two meters and we are not certain it will make it for contest time.

We all hope to put as many of you in the log as possible, good luck to all. Hope to see you on the bands! 73 de N9UHF
